EuroTest award for Wacker Neuson rebar tier
(Munich, April 20, 2010) Wacker Neuson receives award from BG Bau for DF 16’s
outstanding contribution to health and safety
BG Bau, the statutory accident insurance and prevention association for the German
construction industry, has awarded the EuroTest prize to Wacker Neuson’s DF 16 rebar tier
in acknowledgement of its outstanding contribution to health and safety. According to BG Bau,
the DF 16 has made an exemplary improvement to health and safety in the workplace. BG Bau
presented the award today during a ceremony held at the bauma trade fair.
Outstanding ergonomics for fast results
In its award statement, BG Bau praised the DF 16 for “making rebar tying a significantly easier
job, raising health and safety levels for steel fixers while at the same time increasing productivity”.
The association also commended the design and ergonomic workflow, saying it enabled any
operator to achieve consistently tight, high quality knots. The DF 16 allows operators to work
standing upright in a healthy position and also reduces the stress exerted on fingers, wrists and
lumbar vertebrae.
At the same time, the DF 16 gets the job done faster than any other conventional rebar tying
method. It also enables operators to maintain this fast pace, whereas working with pliers rapidly
becomes tiring. The knots produced by the DF 16 are of a consistently high quality – even when
operators are working at high speeds. Since it is entirely mechanical, the sturdy device is ready
for use at any time. In contrast to electrical tiers, operators do not have to contend with downtime
for battery charging or power supply issues. Alongside conventional steel fixing, the DF 16 is
also ideally suited to concrete core activation. This efficient and cost-effective form of HVAC
involves fixing heating pipes to rebar, a job for which the DF 16 is perfectly suited.
