Delivering more power and ease of use for concrete work
(Munich, April 19, 2010) Wacker Neuson unveils a state-of-the-art trowel as well as high-performance internal vibrator technology with enhanced safety features and a highly
efficient rebar tier.
Wacker Neuson SE’s new ride-on trowel – the CRT 48-35L-PS – features an innovative
electrohydraulic steering concept that combines added precision with outstanding
ergonomics. The company has also launched new engines, delivering excellent power/weight
ratio for the modular HMS-series of internal vibrator systems with a flexible shaft. Other
highlights from the field of concrete technology include the DF 16 rebar tier and IRFU internal
vibrators with the Bodyguard operator protection system.

Improved ergonomics for higher productivity
"The CRT 48-35L-PS features a modern steering concept which allows the operator to steer the
machine with precision and minimal effort using two joysticks," explains Markus Martin, product
manager for concrete technology at Wacker Neuson. The user-friendly joysticks make this
machine easier to steer than conventional trowels. "During development, we placed particular
focus on practical operator requirements," says Martin. "After all, an operator-friendly working
environment also increases productivity." Operators can adjust steering sensitivity to meet their
individual requirements, thus ensuring optimum working conditions. Field studies identified two
main types of operator, resulting in a specific setting for each type. Setting 1 is for operators who
tend to push the joysticks as far as they will go. In this case, steering sensitivity is slightly
dampened to prevent oversteering. Setting 2, however, ensures that the system reacts more
directly, making it an ideal option for operators who tend to use the joysticks more lightly. It is a
particularly suitable setting for deploying float pans. The CRT 48-35L-PS is ideal for large
surfaces which require long periods of use.

Internal vibrator engines with optimized power/weight ratio
Further new additions include the A 1500, A 5000 and L 5000 gasoline engines for the HMS-
series of modular internal vibrator systems with a flexible shaft and vibrator head. The engines –
Honda or Lombardini depending on the type – cover several performance levels, and each has
an optimized power/weight ratio. All three engines are comparatively light, easy to handle, and
are extremely cost efficient to run. The A 1500 has a particularly impressive power/weight ratio
and is very easy to handle, weighing only 10.5 kg. The compact transmission requires zero
maintenance. "Ease of use was our main focus when developing these new engines," says
Martin. A sliding pan can be fitted to the devices for easy maneuverability at construction sites.
Rebar tier revolutionizes steel fixing
The DF 16 rebar tier will be making its debut at this year's bauma. This innovative device ties
bars faster and more ergonomically than traditional methods and delivers higher quality results.
"It not only speeds up rebar tying, but also allows operators to maintain this fast pace for as long
as necessary, whereas working with pliers rapidly becomes tiring," explains Markus Martin. The
DF 16 delivers consistently high quality knots even when working at high speeds. Since it is
entirely mechanical, the sturdy device is ready for use at any time. In contrast to electrical tiers,
operators do not have to contend with downtime for battery charging or power supply issues.
Alongside conventional steel fixing, the DF 16 is also is also ideally suited to concrete core
activation. This efficient and cost-effective form of HVAC involves fixing heating pipes to rebar, a
job for which the DF 16 is perfectly suited.
Internal vibrator with unique levels of safety
The IRFUN series of high-frequency internal vibrators with integrated converter provide extremely
high levels of safety for concrete compaction. The patented Bodyguard protection system
guarantees optimum user and equipment protection from the moment the device is connected.
For the first time, the zone of protection extends from the Bodyguard across the entire length of
the device, including the vibrator head and power cable. In the event of a fault, the Bodyguard
system switches the device off within 200 ms, thus guaranteeing optimum operator safety.
Furthermore, the powerful devices guarantee stable operation even with fluctuating
power/generator supplies or extension cables, thus ensuring consistently high levels of
productivity.
